Hello all,

MONTHLY MEDAL 5/6/7th July
A combination of poor weather and an away trip resulted in a relatively low turnout this month. The winner of division 1 with an excellent gross 77 – net 66 was Mick Schofield. Bryn Cooksley was second with a gross 87 – net 69 and Clive Jones continued his recent good form with third place scoring gross 82 – net 70. Mick Edmunds yet again was the lowest gross with 73 – net 71.
Division 2 was won by Tony Crispin, gross 92 – net 73 with Colin Jarman second, gross103 – net 80 and Chris Nash was third with gross 101 – net 81.
BIRDIE BALLS were won by Mick Schofield (2 sleeves) on the 1st & 15th and Clive Jones on the 12th.
Congratulations and well played to all of you !

The midweek medal was well attended and the top three places were decided on count back as all three had a net 70. Dan Clement won the card play off with a 79/9/70, Martin Johnson came in second with 78/8/70 and Roy George third with 81/11/70. Lowest gross was Martin Johnson’s 78.
BIRDIE BALLS were won by Roy George on the 12th.
Again, Congratulations and well played to all !

For the benefit of those of you not on the various whattsapp groups, THE FORMAT FOR THIS COMPETITION HAS CHANGED. This will no longer be a midday tee off with BBQ etc afterwards. You can still play in the competition ONLY ON SATURDAY 13TH using the normal 7.30 tee time. Now only £3.00 entry and you will still get a 50% reduction in green fees, so only £15.00 for non card holders.

The sign up sheet has been on the notice board over two weeks now but as of Wednesday evening there were only 4 names on it.

It’s a free to enter weekend competition and you can enter the Scratch event, the handicap event or both. There will again be reduced green fees of £15.00 on both days. We were hoping for a better response to the sign up sheet so we can establish whether or not we need to do a draw and order of play and to get an idea of numbers for an after golf buffet on the Sunday. It’s only next weekend so if you are intending on playing and you are going to be at the club over this weekend can you please get your names down.

If you are unable to get to club and want to play, let me know directly.

This is President Stan’s golf competition on Saturday afternoon 27th. Stan has said that the golf tee times on the notice board are filling up nicely though still some times available. You can attend the party whether you play in the competition or not. Stan has now put a separate sheet up for the party, again to establish likely numbers to organise food etc. If you have put your name down for the golf and want to stay on for the party YOU STILL NEED TO PUT YOUR NAME ON THE OTHER LIST FOR THE PARTY. Dave Buckley is taking payment on Stan’s behalf.

The club competition for the Presidents trophy will be played over Fri/Sat/Sun that weekend and is separate to Stan’s event. In order to make it possible to play the Club Comp and Stan’s event on the Saturday afternoon, we will be using the yellow tees.

It’s good to see that Nigel is continuing to progress more and more improvements to the course and our thanks go out to him. I think you’ll all agree their efforts are making a big difference.

Enjoy your Golf !
