Hello all,
Well it’s been a busy month so far and it’s not over yet with two more competitions this week! There is some catch up here and as July is going to be even busier there are some reminders of events in the diary that are coming soon.

RECENT RESULTS

Seniors away match versus Maldon Golf club
Report by Dave Seymour
SGC Wednesday Wanderers Seniors had an 8 pairs a side match at Maldon GC on Wednesday June 19th. The weather was nice and sunny, the course was in great condition, the hospitality and food offered was very good. Unfortunately the result was the only downside of the day as we were whitewashed 8 – 0 Ouch! Despite some good golf played we were totally beaten on the greens with some brilliant putting by our opponents. Everyone enjoyed the day and a return match on our course is in the calender for next year. Thanks to Simon Ravinet for organising.

Guest Day – Saturday 22nd June
Report by Captain – Chris Snell
I would like to sincerely thank all of the members and their guests, together with the Kindred Captains who attended guest day on Saturday. As you may be aware, over 100 attended the day and evening and it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all. I have received many messages congratulating the club on their hospitality and the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Your generosity and support raised £2070.00 on the day which will benefit Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Many thanks to my family, the Porter family, Vice Nigel, Tony, Colin Fulker, Paul Gray, Jarrod, Bucko and Carleigh. Ian McEwan and guests and Dave Payne and sons, one of whose firm Project 9 sponsered the 1st hole for £100, and all of you that helped and made the day such a success.

Your support means so much to me. Thank you.

Chris Snell – Captain 2024

The Presidents Trophy 26th,27th,28th July and The Presidents Competition & Party on Saturday 27th only.
For clarity, the Presidents Trophy is a club competition over the three days as usual. President Stan’s competition is a one day stand alone event on the Saturday afternoon only with an early evening party afterwards. Stan has arranged tee times from midday onward. The green fees have been reduced to £15.00 for non season ticket holders.
You have lots of options, both are off the yellow tees and stableford comps so you can either play the club comp Friday or Saturday or Sunday and still play in Stan’s event separately. You can also play Stan’s event and the club comp at the same time provided you have a member marking your card.

You can attend the evening party whether you have played or not and you may bring guests.

Most importantly – Stan has already put some sign up sheets on the wall in the club so that you can indicate your intention to play his event (no need for the club comp) and also for the party in the evening. Food, prizes and cost etc is all shown on the sign up sheet.and you can pick your own tee time from those available.

Please make the effort to fill out these as soon as you can in order to help Stan in organising the food and tee times. I know it has always been well supported and enjoyed in the past.

You’ll be please to know that’s all for now.

Happy Golfing!

Tony
