Good morning all,

Unfortunately the course remains closed at the moment. We have been in contact with the greenkeepers this morning to try and find out when it’s likely to open. They have told us that there is an awful lot of work required. The fairways haven’t been cut for weeks, a lot of the greens are still saturated and some damaged with the crows and public etc being given a free reign over there and on top of that they need a double cut. Understandably they can not give us a timescale for this as they still can’ get machinery to a lot of places without causing further damage.
Reading between the lines, our best guess is that there is probably no chance for this Wednesday and the prospect for the weekend is not great either. I know that’s not what everyone wants to hear but sadly it’s where we are at.
IF THE COURSE OPENS FOR THE WEEKEND (and it’s only an if) we will play the February monthly medal, even if it’s only over Saturday and Sunday. Our schedule for this year is already very full and now we have a lot of catch up to do.
Similarly, we are going to have to apply some strict cut off dates to rounds of the winter four ball as soon as we get going again.

Niven Dimmer
Niven’s funeral has been confirmed for Thursday 14th March 2.00pm at Southend crematorium, with a wake afterwards at our club. The cortage should be passing the club at around 1.30pm after leaving home at 1.15pm.
Chris is in contact with the family and they are asking for likely numbers of members that intend to attend either the crematorium or the wake after. If you could please message Chris direct with your intentions then he can pass the information on. Thank you.

That’s all for now, we will do our best to keep you updated.

Tony
