Hello all,

It's been a busy week !

Firstly we should thank Brian Taylor for organising yet another great Wednesday Wanderers Xmas day out at Basildon. Thanks also to Bucko and Stan who helped out on the day to ensure smooth running. I think that getting 36 players on an away day mid week in winter says a lot about the spirit within our little club.

The winner on the day was Mick Schofield with 41 points, runner up Tony Pegrum with 39 points on countback from Dan Clement on the same score. Captains donated wine and Gin prizes for the three nearest the pin holes went to Mick Schofield, Dennis Goddard and Jamie Montgomery. On my table the pudding scoffing honours went to Brett Kilgour who managed to demolish a xmas pudding & custard, a cheesecake & cream and a roulade & cream in just six mouthfuls !

Monthly Medal Result

Despite the weather we had 24 entrants over the weekend. Div 1 was extremely close with three players all scoring 70. On countback the Medal was won by Iain McEwan (lowest gross) with a 78/8/70 from runner up Ali Fisher 83/13/70 again on countback from Clive Jones 83/13/70.

The best score in Div 2 was from new member Tony May with a 94/29/65 and wins him 2 sleeves of club balls. Chris Nash takes the medal with 87/21/66 from runner up Phil Sanford 90/22/68.

Birdie balls go to Ali Fisher and Brett Kilgour, both on the 15th.

Congratulations ! and well played to all involved.

Orders of Merit

This weekend saw the conclusion of the outstanding singles / pairs competitions. Many congratulations to Colin Jarman on winning the Southend Cup, Daryl Mechem on winning the Veterans Trophy and Chris's Donovan and Read for winning the summer four ball competition. Commiserations to all the runners up but well played to make the finals.

As a result we have been able to complete the Orders of Merit for this year and they are attached on the buttons below.

Congratulations to Dan Staples and Dan Clement for winning the overall and midweek lists respectively.

Captain's Drive In

There is no competition this weekend coming as we have new Captain Chris Snell driving in on Sunday. If you are planning on playing on Sunday, please try and get back in to see him drive off (approx 1.30pm) Even if you don't play, come down, have a few drinks and get him off to a good start ! Also a good opportunity to shake Lee's hand and thank him for the fantastic job he has done as Captain this year and the superb manner in which he has represented the club.

Norman Plumb Team Competition

There is now a sign up sheet on the notice board in the club house.

That's all for now
Happy Golfing
