Hello All

Last Sunday we played The Gold and Silver Medals.

32 played and some great scores were posted.

The Gold Medal was won by Daryl Mecham with a Nett 66 from the Runner Up Lee Porter with a Nett 67.

The Silver Medal was Won by Jamie ‘Beef’ Montgomery with an exceptional Nett 62 on count back in a card Play Off from Dave Payne, also with a Nett 62.

Congratulations to both Winners and well played to the Runners Up!

Birdie Balls were Won by Martin Johnson, Jamie Montgomery and John Humble all on the 7th. Well done.

I omitted to mention to you all Lee Porters Nett 59 achieved over the past August Medal Weekend. Although sadly not in the Medal,l this is the 1st Nett 5 that I can recall. Well played Lee!

This Saturday we will be playing the Dave Cundick Memorial Trophy. We will also remember all Members no longer with us.

For the information of newer Members:

This splendid Trophy was funded by Members contributions shortly after Dave’s passing after his long fight against illness,

During his ill health Dave continued to play golf virtually every day. Dave was a lovely gentle man who was always supportive of the Club, He was a great friend to many and fantastic golf partner to whoever was lucky to play with him.

The current Holder is Peter Robinson who Won last year with an impressive 44 Points.

Dave’s Daughter Maria (and dogs) are again making the journey from Norwich to spend time at the Club with you all and present the Trophy. She knows how much golf and Southend GC meant to her Dad. Please make an effort to come and play if you can.

There will be a light buffet Lunch after play.

A reminder that The Captains Away Day list is up at the Club for Staplefords Abbotts GC on Friday 23rd September.
We will be playing for the M Hardiman Trophy. Get your names down please.
