Apologies for late update, but have been busy this week!

Last weekend we played the Southend Cup Qualifier. This was hotly contested with 37 entries. The standard of scoring was high with only one Net 72 qualifying.

The Winner on better last hole score was Martin Johnson with 80-13-67 from Runner Up Dave Seymour 80-13-67. Both having identical Back 9,6 and 3 scores. The result was decided on Martins birdie 4 on the 18th Hole!

Congratulations and well played Martin, unlucky David. Well played.

The Draw has now been completed for the resulting Knock out Competition and all qualifiers have been notified of their 1st Round opponents.

The full result and Draw will be displayed in the Club when available.

The 1st Round Matches must be played by Sunday 29th May.

There is No Club Competition this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Jorge’s 50th Birthday Party is at the Club this Saturday. All Welcome.

Next Weekend will be The May Monthly Medal usual entry conditions apply.

The weekend of 20-22nd of May we will be playing The Guy Aldred Trophy. This is a Pairs Stableford Competition. Start securing your partners to avoid disappointment!

£4.00 entry per Team. Enter pairing on computer when signing in.

Please note that as from Sunday 1st May Winter Rules and Preferred Lies no longer apply in Competition or Handicap qualifying rounds.

You may take relief without penalty from ‘Abnormal Course Conditions’

An example of which would be the unnatural worn paths created by walkers on the right side of the 14th and left side of the 17th Holes. There are also areas on the 17th and 18th Fairways which are bare as a result of reseeding and walking damage during during Covid. To play from these areas could cause injury or damage to equipment and should be deemed as either Ground under Repair or unnatural Course condition.

Please consult playing partners prior to obtaining Relief for confirmation. Any dispute in Competition play 2 balls and seek a ruling after the event showing both scores on your card.

There is no definitive list so please use common sense.

28th May is Guest Day, List is up at the Club.

The Draw will be conducted after golf tomorrow for the Summer 4 Ball Competition. I have taken down the entry list today. There are 21 entries to date. The computer will process the draw!

Thank you to Brian Taylor and Bob Leek for erecting the Queens Jubilee banner outside the Club during the Week. It looks fantastic.

There will be boiler and associated work taking place in the Club next Wednesday and Friday so be aware those playing on those days.

Finally Your Captain Nick is as we speak recovering from surgery on his injured ankle. He will be absent from the course for 6-8 weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery!
