Good morning to you all,

Many of you will have already heard of the sad and sudden passing of Ian Southgate last Saturday following the severe stroke he suffered and we understand he also contracted Covid 19 while in hospital. I am sure you will all have a memory of Ian at his time at Southend Golf Club, a place that was very close to his heart. Funeral arrangements are not yet known but will be advised and I am sure members will wish to pay their respects to this larger than life character once we are able to get together.

Ian started his golfing life at Southend Golf club as a cadet in 1967, caddying for members, earning a few quid and learning the game from some great members of our Club.

This is not an obituary at this time and more will follow when the time is right. Please take a moment to remember Ian in your own way.
