SGC Local Winter Rules are now applicable. Notices are in place at the Club.
Summary: Preferred lies apply on the Back 9 Holes, up to the tree line on all fairways.
Water in Bunkers. The ball may be lifted and replaced without penalty in the Hazard. If removed and dropped outside the Hazard the general penalty will apply.
Leaves on Fairway. Where a shot is clearly played within the central area of the Fairway And it is agreed by all playing partners that under normal circumstances the ball would Reasonably have been found, but may be hidden by fallen leaves, a new ball may be dropped in the vicinity where the ball was lost, without penalty. Common sense applies. This Rule will be constantly reviewed dependant on the condition of the course.
Belfairs Match
There are still three or four players required to make up the 32 required last time I looked. Please put your name forward if available. Sunday 27th October.
Dave Cundick
It was with great sadness that we learned that after a long and dignified battle against illness Dave finally passed away earlier this week. Dave was an inspiration and an example to all of us. Playing Golf up to only a few months ago, whilst obviously in pain and discomfort, never complaining or moaning about his lot, or looking for sympathy. A fantastic gentleman who will be missed greatly by all at the club. I am sure that when details of Dave’s Funeral are known, that if appropriate these will be communicated to you all and that the Club will be greatly represented. Dave’s daughter visited the Club on Sunday and was very appreciative of all the Hospital visits and support over the past few weeks. These visits were appreciated by Dave. Thank you to you all for visiting.
Best wishes
Chris Snell
