I am pleased to announce the results of the Southend on Sea Golf Club’s 2019 Club Championships held over the weekend, played over 36 Holes.

12 Players contested the Scratch Competition
14 Players contested the Handicap competition
11 Players contested the Ben Birkham Trophy- £33.00 was collected.

Club Championship- Scratch
The Winner of The Scratch Competition and Champion Golfer of 2019 Was Ian Southgate with Rounds of 80 and 74 = 154
Runner up one stroke behind was Lewis Burgess, 81 and 74 = 155

Club Championship – Handicap
The Winner of the Handicap Competition was Lewis Burgess With Nett Rounds off 71 & 64
Runner up was Dave Frost with Nett Rounds off 72 & 67.

Congratulations and well played to both Ian and Lewis, who by all accounts Played some fantastic golf separated by one stroke at the end! Congratulations to Dave Frost who as well as being runner up in the Handicap competition Won The Ben Birkham Trophy with his Nett 67 From Malcolm Sargent with a Nett 70

A special mention for Stan Ferguson who made a determined defence of both of His trophies, the only player to achieve sub 80 scores in both rounds! Well played.

Thank you to all of you for making the day run so smoothly! Also as usual Dave Buckley for his lunch and running of the bar through out the day. Once again well done to all.

This Wednesday we will be playing the August Midweek Medal. All are welcome. Tony Howson (Medal King) is injured so make hay in his absence! He has specifically requested that attempts are made to prevent Dave Seymour making Merit Point gains on his commanding lead.

This coming Saturday 17th August is Captains Day at the Club. 10am onwards the club will be open for Bacon Rolls. 1st tee time is 11.04am until Noon. Golf will be followed by Curry/Chilli

We will be playing for The Captains Cup. 18 Hole Medal off White tees. This will be on the PSI so please sign in and enter scores on completing Your round.

Keep on arranging and playing outstanding matches. We are getting there.
