Morning All.

Please find attached the Result of the August Monthly Medal played over last weekend.

There were 22 entries, 22 cards were completed and £66.00 was collected. No Birdie balls were won.

A highly competitive Division 1 Medal was won by Dave Seymour on count back from Lewis Burgess Both achieving Nett 65’s and earning Handicap reductions. Well played and congratulations to you both.

Mick Butcher returned a respectable Nett 71, despite an unfortunate 11 on the fourth hole. His reward, a one shot Handicap reduction!

Division 2 was there for the taking and victory was claimed by first time winner Ronnie Bridges With a Maiden Nett 67 from runner up, with another sub par round of Nett 69, Rob Leek. Congratulations Ronnie and welcome to the Club. Your Handicap has been reduced!

Southend Golf Club Championship Scratch & Handicap Competitions 2019

This coming Sunday 11th August we will be playing for the above Competitions.

At present there have been 18 entries.

There is no entry fee and is open to all Members with a Competition Handicap.

You may enter and play both, or elect to play one or other Competition on its own. Both are Medal Rounds, Scratch and Handicap Competitions, over 36 Holes.

The normal Sunday Tee time applies, with a light lunch, followed by second round Tee times Between 1.15pm and 2pm.

The draw on the day can accommodate those who agree and wish to play outstanding matches.

The Ben Birkham Competition, over 18 Holes for 19 and above Handicaps can be played If there is sufficient interest. £3.00 entry, Birdie balls on Par 3’s.

In order to assist the smooth running of these Competitions and prevent last years unfortunate Controversy I would greatly appreciate it if you can all follow the below.

  • Please sign in on PSI.
  • Mark your name clearly on Competition Card and state what Competition/s you are playing.
  • Ensure the card has either AM or PM clearly marked on it
  • Ensure that you clearly mark scores with no overwriting.
  • Enter your scores on the PSI taking care that the correct scores are entered.

Any problems let me know. If PSI not working correctly, no problem, again leave it alone and let me know. Please do not switch it off, play with various buttons, or log it out, as this does not help!

Finally, in fairness to all, please conclude your card marking and signing after finishing play on the 18th or in the changing room Prior to entering your scores on the PSI. Anyone found adjusting or rewriting cards in the Clubhouse bar will be Disqualified. Thanks for your help in advance.

Other News

Last Wednesday we played a Stableford Competition for Mid Week Merit Points and to celebrate My 60th Birthday. There were 17 competitors.

Thank you to all those who played and those who made the effort and attended after Golf, participating in lunch and beers . A very enjoyable day and thanks Colin Fulker for the chocolate cake!

The Winner was Tony Howson with an impressive 40 Points from Runner up Dave Seymour With 38 Points. (No change there then!) Malcolm Brennan and Rob Leek won best front and back 9’s ! Well played to you all.
