Hello All

Please find attached the results of this past weekends Competition The July Medal.

Also Important information from CONGU, The Confederation of National Golf Unions Who are responsible for the Integrity of the Handicap system. This instruction relates to the Correct recording of ‘No Returns’ in Club Qualifying Competitions.

Firstly, a record number of 27 entries were recorded and cards completed. £80.00 was collected. Birdie Balls were won by Brian Hone-1st and Terry Burgess-12th. Well done.

Another Fiercely contested Medal resulted in two Winners both winning on countback in both Divisions.

R/U – Andy Scott – 82/69 Nett
Division 2- Winner Colin Fulker – 87/66 Nett

Congratulations and well played to you all and commiserations to Andy and Nick!

Martin Johnson secured his second victory in a month. Well played. Colin Fulker was so excited he smiled, bought drinks and was nearly persuaded to buy a club tie!

Competitions and News.

Also well done to Craig Deal and Colin Wyatt on their Summer 4 Ball victory over Captain and Vice! By all accounts they played some fantastic golf resulting in Craig amassing 46 points in the roll-Up. A small handicap reduction awaits. Yet to be confirmed.

This weekend is the Kindred Final on Sunday. I am sure many of you will be attending to support our Clubs players. Good luck and play well.

There will be no Club Competition this weekend, but I will put on a cash roll-up. £3.00 entry. Prizes for best overall score, best front and back 9’s. Play off the yellow tees. This is NOT a qualifying competition.

This Saturday we look forward to the Final of the Winter 4 Ball between Dave Seymour And Paul Gray and Lee Porter and Jarrod Joseph. We are guaranteed to see some colourful Golf attire and very carefully co-ordinated Team colours! Hopefully the golf is as exciting as the clothes. Good luck to you all.

Thank you for those posting entry fees for Burkes Bowl.

Please note the Cut off dates for Club Competitions.

Important Instructions to Committee’s Regarding ‘No Returns’

There has been a noticeable increase in the submission of No return cards in Club competitions.

This has caused some comment and confusion around the correct procedures. As a result I have investigated and confirmed the correct procedures that will now be adopted by the Club forthwith.

Whilst accepted that balls are lost and pace of play is important, wherever possible players should Play a provisional ball, or return to the tee in order to negate a N/R.

If not the case then every hole played, other then the non scoring hole, must have a score recorded on the players Card.

The completed card will then be entered on the computer. The computer will then calculate normally A maximum ‘Double bogey’ on the non scoring Hole/s. All players who N/R must now be Disqualified From the competition.

Failure to do so and showing a succession of Zero’s on submitting a card can affect playing Handicap calculations and in some cases assist players to build a ‘competition’ handicap. Also possibly affect the CSS for the Competition. Therefore the common practice of not entering a score for completed holes is no longer acceptable.

This is not a criticism but clarification of the correct procedure.

I have attached the instruction from CONGU which are self explanatory and if there are any queries please speak to me and I will try to clarify.

Best wishes
