Captain’s day – Saturday 23rd August

We had over 30 turn out for what was another good SGC Captain’s day last Saturday. Neil Baldwin won the competition and Trophy with 39 stableford points, well played Neil !

Mick Edmunds came home second on 38 and Steve Staples third on 37, beating Chris Nash on countback also with 37 .Paul Eley and Andy Scott took the remaining merit points. Mick generously declined his second prize and so it went to Steve Staples.

We had six past Captain’s playing for a separate prize and Mick also won that. Well played Mick !
Nearest the pin prizes went to Craig Deal on the 1st, Iain McEwan (in 2) on the 3rd, Bob Leek on the 10th and Monty Norden on the 15th..

“Birdie” balls went to Mick Edmunds and Andy Scott.

Many thanks to all those that helped out but particularly to Mick for organising the day and providing the prizes, food and the “halfway house” by the 8th green. Dave and Carleigh for the bacon rolls and buffet, Jules and Nigel for running the BBQ again and Colin Jarman who organised the raffle and raised over £300 for the Captains charity.

Midweek stableford 27th August. – The Ian Nelson Trophy

Another good midweek turnout saw Nineteen players compete. Dave Payne came out on top and won the trophy scoring 40 points. Mark Critcher was runner up on 38 with Paul Eley and Graham Long both scoring 36. remaining merit points went to Daryl Mechem and Colin Jarman.

Congratulations to all the runners, riders and winners of both these competitions !

Wednesday 10th September – Captain’s Autumn away day – Three Rivers Golf club. PLEASE NOTE, THE SIGN UP SHEET IS STILL ON THE NOTICE BOARD. IF YOU CAN’T GET TO THE CLUB BUT WANT TO GO PLEASE LET MICK KNOW AS HE HAS TO CONFIRM NUMBERS.
Fri/Sat/Sun 12th,13th,14th September – Monthly Medal
Wednesday 17th September – Midweek Stableford for the Ravenswood Trophy.
Fri/Sat/Sun 26th,27th,28th September – Gold & Silver Medal Weekend.
