April Monthly Medal – Fri/Sat/Sun 18th/19th/20th
Still a reasonable turn out over the weekend despite it clashing with Easter. Division 1 was won by Chris Nash with a gross 83 – net 67, whose form just keeps improving since his recent controversial handicap cut !. Second place went to Mick Edmunds, shooting a (lowest) gross of 71 – net 69 and third was Chris Read with a gross 85 – net 72.
Division 2 was won by Phil Sanford on 89 – net 71 with Gary Fraser second on 93 – net 73 and Julian Walden third on 93 – net 74.
No birdie 2’s were recorded.
Congratulations and well played to all the above players in these competitions!
UPCOMING FIXTURES
Wednesday 23rd April – Midweek Medal
This is medal / stroke play and as is usual for a midweek competition will play off the yellow tees.
Saturday 26th April – The Spring Shield / Kindred Qualifier
This is a one day competition only – greensomes format for pre registered pairs. This is not only an honour board competition but also an opportunity for the top 4 pairs to represent the club at the Kindred Finals this year. A draw for order of play was carried out yesterday in the club house on the V1 system by myself and Mick Edmunds and is on the button below. When you arrive at the club just sign your team in to the computer and it will give you your team handicap. Please try to get off the first in a timely manner as we are very tight on tee times. Belfairs are aware that we may run over a tad.
There is still room for one more late entry to make up the last 4 ball. First to contact me will get the place.
For those of you not marked as PAID on the draw sheet, please put your £4.00 in an envelope on the day.
England Golf – Players Responsibilities
You may or may not be aware but EG are having a purge to stamp down on handicap manipulation. This is mainly on “general play rounds” as competition scores are controlled entirely by us. They have received a lot of complaints countrywide of scores being entered after a round with no “intent to put a score in” registered prior to the round. As a result they have tightened up some of the software being used by themselves and their partners and we have seen changes to the howdidido system. They have recently sent out a code of practice for all golfers which can be viewed on the link here. As a club, we recommend that you review it so you are in no doubt as to your responsibilities as players.
Southend Cup
The draw for the Southend Cup was also made yesterday at the same time as the Spring Shield. A competition chart will be up on the notice board shortly.
That’s all for now, enjoy your golf !.
Tony
