NEWS – FIXTURES – RESULTS
Good morning to all,
RESULTS
March Monthly Medal – 21/22/23 March
We had a good turn out of 27 players last weekend. Dan Clement won div 1 shooting a gross 74 – net 68, narrowly beating Tony Pegrum in to second with a gross 79 – net 69. Chris Donovan took third with gross 83 – net 70.
Division 2 was also close with Colin Jarman getting his first medal with a gross 88 – net 71, just pipping Brett Kilgour on countback who shot exactly the same score. That’s two runners up spots on the spin for Brett, hopefully he’ll get the next one over the line. Tony Crispin was third with a gross 95 – net 76.
Birdie balls went to Pete Robinson and Andy Scott on the first and Chris Nash on the 10th.
Congratulations and well played to all!
FIXTURES
Sunday March 30th
Roger Foreman match vs Belfairs. The team sheet, order of play, tee times and handicaps are on the button below. As usual, tea, coffee and bacon rolls will be available before tee off.
DON’T FORGET THE CLOCKS GO FORWARD SATURDAY NIGHT, and we should be back off the grass tees. It seems we only get shots in four of the matches but I’m sure SGC will overcome and come out victorious again ! Good luck everyone.
Fri/Sat/Sun 4/5/6 April
The Southend Cup Qualifier
A stroke play competition off the white tees, The top 15 over the weekend go through to a knock out draw along with last year’s winner, Pete Robinson.
PRESENTATION NIGHT – FRIDAY 28th MARCH
We are aiming to get the presentation started around 7.30pm but for anyone thirsty a bit earlier, Dave is hoping to open the bar by 6.30 latest.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the night.
COMPETITION CHARGES
I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news but as from April there is an increase in competition fees. The committee have discussed this at length since the last AGM when the topic was raised due to the spiraling costs of club balls, medals and engraving trophies. It was felt and agreed that as a club we want to continue rewarding members with Medals and golf balls for birdies and as prizes for both competition winners and runners up. While costs have risen dramatically over the last 12 – 15 years (apart from the introduction of birdie balls in stableford comps) there have been no increases in fees. It was decided to raise singles competitions and medals to £4.00 entry and pairs competitions to £6.00 per pair.
We hope you agree and understand the need for this increase.
That’s all for now, enjoy your golf !.
Tony
